Nowra Chemical Manufacturers Pty Ltd was established in 1977 by John and Fay Lamont as a family owned business which employed only 2 people. Now 35 years later the business is well established at its South Nowra Base.
Currently, Nowra Chemical Manufacturers occupies over 5 acres, with 2 manufacturing sites, warehouse / distribution centre, administration building, an additional adjoining storage facility and employs over 45 people, including 5 Industrial Chemists.

Warehouse and Distribution Centre
The Warehouse and Distribution Centre was opened in March 1997. The facility stores over 500 pallets (raw materials and finished product) and was built to meet the growing needs of the business.
The undercover area can hold two semi-trailers for loading and unloading from both sides and is licensed for the storage of Class 3, 5, 6 and 8 dangerous goods. Liquid Aluminium Sulphate has been the largest volume product produced on the site for 35 years.
Many other products are currently manufactured, including: Cleaning Products; Industrial Chemicals; Organic Reactions; Wax Emulsions; Polymers, flammable blending, Cosmetics and Pharmaceutical products.
Plant and Manufacturing Capabilities
The manufacturing facility consists of 38 mixing vessels. These vary in size from 200 litres to 20,000 litres.
Nowra Chemicals also has 20 bulk storage tanks for raw materials and finished product stock holdings. Nowra Chemical Manufacturers has 3 stainless steel reactors that will work under vacuum and temperatures up to 300° C.
The plant is generally stainless steel with 3 glass reactors and 1 rubber lined reactor. Some tanks in the plant contain both coils and jacket for heating and cooling. The manufacture of esters and other raw material bases generally occurs in 3 specialty vessels (10 tonne, 3 tonne and 1.2 tonne).
Dedicated manufacturing rooms for TGA and cosmetic products are also situated on the site. The Pharmaceutical area has 3 x 3000L tanks, a 250kg Cream mixer, as well as other smaller tanks and a filling line for bottles from 100ml to 1.25L. Tube sealing for sunscreen and similar products is also available.
The Cosmetic Room carries Organic Certification with OFC for the production of “Certified Organic Cosmetics” such as creams, hair shampoos and conditioners.

Nowra Chemical Manufacturers delivers into Sydney on a daily basis with Nowra Transport.
The company also runs 12, 6 and 2 tonne truck’s to supplement external transport both in Sydney and on the South Coast . All drivers are Dangerous Goods licensed and ensure that deliveries are prompt to our clients.
